Overview:

Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) systems are gaining rapid adoption in process control industries such as oil refineries, chemical plants, and factories. Such systems require a versatile wireless alternative to wired networks to connect sensors, actuators, and controllers as part of feedback-control loops over multi-hop real-time flows. Since communication delays and packet losses may lead to severe degradation in control performance or even control instability, wireless solutions must provide reliable and real-time performance. We are developing protocols that can tolerate variations in link quality, workload, and topology changes as well as techniques to analyze their performance.
